Nia Bio:

To anyone who will listen, I tell them Nia changed my life.  As a child and young adult, I was playful, full of spirit and boundless energy.   Along came college, work, life and I literally faded into the expectations of my profession as an accountant.  In order to fit it with my peers, I turned down the dial on my femininity, toned down my personality and became a workaholic.  In 1999, I found Nia and loved it from the beginning.   KC, the teacher, told us that many folks cry during class.  I thought that was the most ridiculous thing I’d ever heard, after all, I was a serious, intense leader.  Yep, you guessed it, I cried like a baby, as my body took over and my inner child was invited to come out and play.

I became a White Belt in 2012 to deepen my Nia practice.  At the time, I had no intention of teaching Nia, but found that I’m called to share the Joy of Movement and the profound positive impact that movement has on living a full, true to yourself, life.  As I’ve deepened my Nia practice, I’ve learned to trust my body, to allow her to tell me what’s best for me, to let go of others expectations and be true to myself.

I continue to work as a corporate professional, but am more conscious of the need to balance my body, my mind and my spirit.  Colleagues tell me “you seem different”, “you’re more in control, yet less controlling”, “you’re so happy” and want to know… “what are doing?”   I simply laugh, do a little jig and ask them to join me on the Nia dance floor.   I’ve found it’s wonderful being a serious, intense leader with a playful, spirited, energetic attitude.

I’m grateful and blessed to be sharing Nia and welcome you to join the fun!
